Out of the snow

Alexis smiled as she watched the snow falling outside. It did look fun outside, yet she had no time right now to enjoy it. Her parents had given her new cards for her deck which was why she had them all sprawled out on the floor in front of her, excited to see which order she should put them in. It was a difficut decision to say the least.

"Hey, do I see new cards?" Jaden asked as soon as he'd clambered his way up the rocky ladder and up onto the wooden flooring, the very unsafe looking wood flooring.

"Only cards could make a duellist look that excited" he added as he stood leaning over the Obelisk Blue.

Alexis nodded without looking away from her deck. "Yes, I cant wait to try them out" she smiled as she tried placing them in order. It was more then just hard, maybe an impossible desision.

"Only a duelist knows what is exciting" she said as she continued on the order.

"If you're ever looking for someone to try them out on, my HERO deck is always ready for a duel" he replied as he took a seat next to the Obelisk.

"More Cyber Tutu's" he glanced at the cards in the girls deck, he'd seen that card in battle more than a few times.

"Sounds like a great challange" Alexis said while she-once again- tried putting the cards in a different order.

She looked to him then back at her cards with a short nod. "Of course, I like playing that card" she said.

"Well I guess it gives you more of a chance of getting her out on the field" Jaden leaned back letting his legs stretch out in front of him.

"Oh, It'd more than a challenge Alexis, way more than a challenge" he smiled, recalling his past duels at Duel Academy.

"I am going to get her out as much as I can" Alexis said, finally desiding on an order. Should it have been this hard?

Yes, yes it should!

She glanced at Jaden and rolled her eyes slightly. "Dont be getting a big head there, Kid" she joked as she shoved his shoulder. "You might end up like Chazz" she smiled brightly.

Jaden almost choked on his non existing food. "Me Ch-Cha wha?" he managed, no way was he ever going to end up anything like Chazz, he didn't need money to make him a great duelist, he remembered the times he'd beaten Chazz and laughed to himself, money defiantly couldn't bring you skill.

"I'm just saying, everybody knows who the best duelist in Duel Academy is anyway" he said.

Alexis laughed slightly at his reaction. "Well, you do have the same ego... nearly" she said amusedly. Okay, Cazz' may be a lot worse but so what?

"And also who the most modest is" she shot back, rolling her eyes a little.

"You mean yourself? Hey Alexis you're not bad but when up against the likes of Jaden Yuki" he laughed.

He let his eyes wonder around the treehouse, he could see small amounts of white seeping through the microscopic gaps in the wood. "Geez, it's like the snow wants to kill us" he said.

Alexis smiled as once again; she rolled her eyes. "Well, your not modest in the slightest" she said before looking at what Jaden was.

"Either that or this treehouse is planning too" she said, pressing her hand down on the creaky boards.

"Okay" Jaden replied, honestly he didn't have a clue what the words Alexis were using mean, modest? What was next? He nodded in agreement and jumped up onto his feet.

"The treehouse?" Jaden said as he started jumping from board to board leaving nothing but the sound of creaking and jumbling of cards behind him. "Maybe this'll make him sick" he suggested.

Her eyes widened as she quickly collected all her cards before they got crushed or lost. She wondered if this kid had any sence. It wouldn't be the first time she thought this. "Jaden! your going to make the floor collapse" she warned.

"It's the only way to make him let us go Alexis! He won't eat us" Jaden yelled over the racked of the floorboards.

"And I'm sure Crowler made them so the didn't break" he said every few words whilst being lifted into the air.

Alexis watched Jaden jump around but was still sure he was going to end up breaking something. Maybe a leg.

"You cant be sure of that" she said as she put all her cards safely away.

Jaden stopped, allowing the snow to resettle itself, he looked down at the panicked looking Alexis.

"Where's your sense of fun Alexis?" he asked.

Alexis stood up when he finally stopped jumping. She took a step forward, hearing the boards creek again but no louder then before.

"It would be fun to fall?" she asked amusedly. Was he speaking in some kind of code or did he really think that?

Jaden watched Alexis closely just to work out whether she was joking or not. "You mean from here?" he asked.

He dropped his eyes to the largest gap he could find in the flooring, he couldn't see much but he could see it was a long way down. "That'd be cool!" he grinned.
